Information for patients & public

Research can test new treatments, medicines, therapies, and knowledge. It aims to test success and safety before routine use in standard care. This could not happen without people who decide to support research.

Take part in Research

Both patients and members of the public can take part in Research, through the National Institute of Health Research's (NIHR) Be Part of Research scheme or you can support Research without taking part in a study.

Patient recruitment at RJAH

RJAH patients are asked to join a research study by their standard care or Research team. This is only if you have been referred to RJAH by your GP and are suitable for the study.

We make sure you know what taking part in research means for you. You can ask us questions or speak to friends and family about it. To find out more, click here to visit the NIHR's website. Either way, the choice to take part is yours. Not doing so won't affect your standard of care.

Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) Group

We also run a PPI group, formed of RJAH patients and the public. For further details, please contact the Research Team.
