Waiting for treatment

There are currently lengthy waiting times for elective (planned) surgery across the NHS. Here at RJAH, we are making every endeavour to reduce waiting times, and we are managing our waiting lists in line with NHS guidelines and the clinical priority of patients.

The information below can help you with understanding how long you might have to wait, and how we can support you while you wait.

myrecovery

myrecovery logoSome Patients waiting for surgery at RJAH now have access to myrecovery – an app that is designed to help support you as you undergo treatment; The app is personalised to each individual patient and contains videos, articles and an information library, specific to your treatment.

You can find more information about myrecovery, including how to download the app and register to use it, on a dedicated page here on the RJAH website.

Please note that patients waiting to see a Spinal Surgeon cannot yet access this service, but we are working towards rolling this out in the not too distant future.

While myrecovery does not support patients waiting for spinal surgery, there is a dedicated section on My Planned Care.

The role of the Patient Advice and Liaison service (PALS)

As a patient, relative or carer sometimes you may need to turn to someone for on-the-spot help, advice and support. This is where the Patient Advice and Liaison Service can help and guide you through the different services available at the Trust.

PALS provides confidential, on-the-spot advice and support, helping you to sort out any concerns you may have about the care we provide within the NHS. The PALS Service aims to make patients visit to the hospital as easy as possible.

PALS are not able to expedite your appointment date, your GP can help to manage your symptoms while you are waiting and any requests for dates to be expediated must come through them.

Further information on the role of PALS can be found on the dedicated page on the RJAH website.
