Foot, Ankle and Lower Limb Team

The team is composed of five fellowship trained Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeons whose code of practice is purely foot and ankle. This makes the unit one of the largest foot and ankle services within the country.

As one of the leading Foot and Ankle units in the UK we provide a referral centre for the treatment of complex foot and ankle disorders and trauma.

RJAH has always had a commitment to education and the Foot and Ankle Unit is proud to run one of the leading educational surgical courses.

Foot and Ankle Surgery

Patients can be reassured by our specialist expertise and our consistently low infection rates.

The team work closely with ORLAU for gait analysis, dynamic EMG and Pedobarography (measurement of dynamic foot pressures), as well as Orthotics and Physiotherapy, offering specialist teams with combined clinical care in outpatients.

Specialist services to treat soft tissue, cartilage and ligament problems of the foot  and ankle – including problems associated with sporting injuries in athletes - are also offered. All aspects of  arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery are offered and cartilage implantation (MACI) for osteochondral lesions is performed. The majority of this is carried out as day case surgery and followed by intensive physiotherapy under the care of our specialist physiotherapy team.
