Data Protection Impact Assessments

What is a DPIA?

 

A DPIA is a process which helps an organisation identify, assess and mitigate or minimise privacy risks associated with data processing activities. 

 

DPIAs must be completed for processing activities that are likely to result in a high-risk to individuals. It's also good practice to carry out a DPIA for any other major project which requires processing personal data. 

 

To assess the level of risk, a DPIA must consider both the likelihood and the severity of any impact on individuals.
