Radiology

The Radiology Department offers specialist expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal disorders including interventional procedures such as injections, aspirations, drainages, biopsies and imaged guided treatment procedures. This includes sports injuries and spinal disorders.

All standard imaging investigations are provided including radiographs (x-rays), Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and ultrasound.

Special expertise areas include musculoskeletal imaging, image-guided interventional procedures and non-invasive angiography using CT or MR imaging. We are also one of five national primary bone tumour centres and offer imaging services from general radiologists, with the exception of invasive angiography.

We serve the local population of Shropshire and North and Mid-Wales for primary care based imaging, we provide imaging service for secondary (hospital-based) care and also accept regional and national referrals for imaging and image guided intervention. We treat NHS and privately insured patients, on the basis of a referral from a health professional.

When attending for x-rays, please ensure you wear x-ray safe clothing. This includes trousers, skirts or shorts that don't have zips, belts or buttons for hip and knee replacement x-rays, as well as pelvis x-rays. Clothing should also be easily rolled above the knee for knee x-rays.
