Our Menu - Inpatients
Patient menu
Our menus have been crafted and curated with patient wellbeing right at the forefront. We want you to look forward to your next meal with us and feel excited about our options.
Like our restaurant menu, our patients’ menus also run on a three-week rota. You can check which week will be running during your visit here.
Breakfast
Choose from a range of selected cereals, toast or our homemade hot porridge and pair with a fresh piece of fruit for a great start to the day.
Lunch and supper
Begin with our soup of the day, followed by one of three carefully prepared hot main courses, with vegetarian and vegan options available, served with your choice of seasonal vegetables, and completed with a delicious dessert. Sandwiches are also available on both white and wholemeal bread or pick from our array of crunchy salads.
Kids menu
We know family time is important, so if you have a child staying at RJAH you are welcome to have a supper meal on us. Choose between our standard patient menu or our alternative kids’ menu for you or your child.
Our alternative kids’ menu is full of child-friendly comfort foods from chicken nuggets and chips to pizza. Don’t hesitate to contact our team if your child has any dietary requirements or requests, we’re happy to help.
Private Patient menu
If you have opted for private care, you are entitled to our top of the range dedicated menu. Upon arrival at the ward, you will be provided with a welcome basket of fruit and biscuits to make you feel at home.
Our private menu features a choice of starters, one of three carefully crafted hot mains, with vegetarian and vegan options available, served with your choice of seasonal vegetables and completed with one of our delectable desserts.
Private patients may also choose from the lite bites’ menu, offering sandwiches, paninis and jacket potatoes served with your choice of salad or chips.
Alternative options - Dietetic, Speech and Language Therapy and Catering Partnership
At RJAH, we specialise in select diets and offering as many options as possible. With the help of our onsite Dietician and Speech and Language Therapist, no matter how you feel, there’s something for you.
The Dietetics, Speech and Language Therapy and Catering teams work together to ensure patients receive safe, nutritious and enjoyable meals that meet their individual needs.
We support nutritionally well and nutritionally vulnerable patients, including those requiring special diets. This includes texture-modified meals for patients with dysphagia or other swallowing difficulties
Menus are developed in line with the Nutrition and Hydration Digest and Soil Association Food for Life Served Here standards, supporting high-quality, patient-focused food provision.
The Catering Manager works closely with clinical teams to adapt meals, respond to patient feedback and address dietary requirements. Catering Services also contributes to Nutrition Link Nurse meetings and supports a diverse patient population, including children, adults with spinal injuries and older people.
Regular audits of texture-modified meals help ensure they remain safe, appropriate and consistently high quality.
