Complex primary surgeries and revision surgery

I have been a consultant Hip and Knee Arthroplasty Specialist based at RJAH, Oswestry since 2003. My collective clinical throughput exceeds over 300 primary hip and knee replacements and over 50 revision surgeries a year. I specialise in primary, complex primary, revision hip and revision knee surgeries. Having graduated from St John’s Medical College, Bangalore in 1992, my basic surgical training took place at Cardiff and Newport, South Wales. My Higher surgical following fellowship was at and around RJAH. During this time, I also completed a Master’s degree in Orthopaedic Engineering from the Cardiff University. I developed an interest in knee and hip replacement surgery during my last year of training at Oswestry and spent a further year of Surgical Fellowship at The Wrightington Hospital, regarded as the birthplace of hip replacement. Subsequently I undertook a AO Pelvic Fellowship at Sunnnybrook hospital, Toronto in Canada and spent a further few more months visiting various arthroplasty centres in Canada. I have travelled extensively during my training and subsequently visiting several renowned joint replacement centres both in the UK and outside. I am actively involved in research. I have several publications in peer reviewed journals. My research interests are mainly in the field of ‘making surgery predictable’ by developing accurate surgical jigs and reproducible surgical techniques minimising blood loss and optimising wound healing following surgery and pioneered the use of Negative Pressure Wound Therapy dressings for use in complex hip and knee surgeries with a potential for wound complications. I have 2 children. I am a keen follower of motorsports. I enjoy travelling, cycling, walking, hiking, skiing and riding motorcycles.
