Mr Nandra manages patients with painful hips and groin pain due to sport or arthritis. This includes young adults with hip dysplasia, femoroacetabular impingement or labral tears who may need minimally invasive hip arthroscopy or bony re-alignment with osteotomies around the pelvis, femur or tibia. He also cares for patients with arthritis and failed hip replacements. Using cemented and uncemented prosthesis for primary hip arthroplasty to individualise care to every patient and a range of techniques acquired during my fellowships for revision hip surgery. These include cement-in-cement revision, impaction bone grafting and use of custom-made 3D printed implants. Mr Nandra continues to work at University of Birmingham, department of biochemical engineering, to understand how bone and cartilage heals and to develop local resorbable drug and cell delivery system. He embraces emerging technology using navigation and robotic technology to improve predictability and precision of arthroscopic FAI surgery and joint replacements. He also recognises the emergence of newer hip resurfacing prothesis and innovative practice to reduce length of stay and day case hip surgery.

Mr Nandra has a particular interest in hip preservation surgery, trying to avoid patients developing end-stage arthritis requiring a joint replacement. He assesses young adults with hip pain due to abnormal joint development, sports injuries or work-related issues. Common conditions include hip dysplasia, femoracetabular impingement, sequelae of childhood conditions such as Perthes or Slipped Upper Epiphysis. He works as part of multi-disciplinary team to avoid further damage to the joint, rehabilitate muscles around the joint and use minimally invasive techniques such as hip arthroscopy to repair damaged tissues in the joint. Mr Nandra works with an innovative research team, the International society for Hip Arthroscopy and Non-Arthroplasty Hip Registry to improve patient outcomes, introduce innovative biological treatments and embrace technology such as navigated or robotic surgery. Mr Nandra has a role in primary care, seeing patients with musculoskeletal pain. He also work with Integrated Care Systems to refine vertical and horizontal care pathways. Aspiring to improve every patients journey from initial presentation to primary care through to definitive secondary care treatment.
