Mr Gallacher underwent his specialist orthopaedic training on the highly regarded Oswestry training programme. He trained under Mr Dai Rees and the sports injuries team in Oswestry in addition to the knee specialists in both Stoke on Trent and Oswestry and developed a sub-specialist interest in surgery around the knee. Throughout his training he published on general orthopaedics and on specialist knee topics. Following completion of his specialist training he underwent fellowship knee training in Sheffield and undertook a travelling fellowship in Europe supported by the British Association for Surgery of the Knee (BASK) visiting various European centres of excellence in knee. Mr Gallacher is a supporter of UK veterans.
