Mr Balain's clinical interests include all aspects of spinal deformity including trauma. His research interests include cervical myelopathy, degenerative lumbar spine disorders and back pain, spinal biomechanics, spine-related basic sciences research, degenerative, tumours and deformity.
MBBS, MS (Orth), FRCS Glasgow, FRCS (T&O) Medical Qualification, University of Delhi 1995 Orthopaedics Post Graduation, University of Delhi 1996-2001. Basic Surgical training in Bristol, London and Shrewsbury 2002-2004. Higher Surgical Training in the Oswestry-Stoke Training Rotation, West Midlands Deanery 2004-2009. Spinal fellowship training at RJAH Orthopaedic Hospital Oswestry & University Hospital of North Staffordshire, Stoke-on-Trent. This included a short stint in University Hospital Innsbruck, Austria and the Texas Back Institute, Dallas, USA
He was appointed at RJAH in 2010.
