Lt Col Meyer has a high volume practice in primary hip and knee arthroplasty. Also performs revision hip and knee surgery. Has a particular interest in revision hip surgery for dislocation and revision knee surgery for knee instability. Also performs complex knee and hip replacement following trauma. Provides a general trauma service at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital Qualified from the University of Birmingham in 1996. Underwent higher orthopaedic training on the Oswestry rotation. Appointed as a consultant at Oswestry in 2011. Is a serving army orthopaedic surgeon with one tour to Iraq and three to Afghanistan. Has travelled extensively and visited centres of excellence in UK and abroad. Lt Col Carl Meyer developed the Veterans Orthopaedic Service in 2014. Patients attend the service from across the UK as well as from overseas. It is the first service of its kind. The service was initially aimed at Veterans with hip and knee arthritis but has now grown to involve other orthopaedic subspecialties.
