Orthotics Referrals for Health Professionals
Who to refer to Orthotics
Patients who may benefit from orthotic devices should be referred to the Orthotic Service. This includes individuals with:
Musculoskeletal conditions (e.g. arthritis, scoliosis, joint instability)
Neurological disorders (e.g. stoke, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis)
Gait abnormalities or walking difficulties
Foot and ankle problems (e.g. flat feet, plantar fasciitis, diabetic foot issues)
Post-operative or post-injury rehabilitation needs requiring bracing or support
Paediatric developmental conditions affecting posture or mobility
How to refer to Orthotics
Referrals can be made externally by emailing:
Internally, they can be made using the dedicated referral form.
Referrals can be made across any of our three sites, which are RJAH, the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and the Princess Royal Hospital, Telford, as well as any of our specialist clinics. These are:
