Young runner completes 21.1km challenge to support RJAH
Posted: 23 Sep 2026
A young runner has completed the equivalent of a half marathon to raise funds for The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital (RJAH).
Teddy Langford took on the 21.1km challenge as part of his 13th birthday celebrations. He began with the 4km Junior Great North Run on Saturday 12 September – but that was only the start.
Too young to enter the full half marathon, Teddy decided to complete the remaining 17.1km before his 13th birthday on 22 September.
RJAH has special meaning for Teddy because his mum works at the hospital and often tells him about the difference its teams make for patients and families.
He completed the final 17.1km distance through runs around his hometown of Guilsfield and along the hospital’s Path of Positivity.
Teddy has already raised over £800, and his fundraising page will remain open until the end of the month.
Teddy said: “I wanted to challenge myself and raise money for RJAH because I know how much the hospital helps people. I’m really pleased that I completed the full distance.”
His mum, Sian Langford, said: “We’re so proud of Teddy for setting himself such a positive challenge and seeing it through. He has loved every mile, and the support he has received has been wonderful.”
Victoria Sugden, Charity Director at RJAH Charity, said: “Teddy’s determination is truly inspiring and we are incredibly grateful to him and everyone who has supported his challenge.
“Every donation helps us fund those extra touches, equipment and projects that make a real difference to patients and staff at RJAH.”
