RJAH supports Coach Roach to sign Armed Forces Covenant

Coach Roach Personal Training has signalled its support to staff and customers who serve in military roles by signing the Armed Forces Covenant – after being supported by The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital (RJAH).
The Covenant represents a pledge of support to people who are serving in, or who have served in the Armed Forces, as well as promoting its armed-forces-friendly status and seeking to support the employment of veterans, young and old.
Rebecca Warren, Reservist and Enhanced Recovery Lead at the Oswestry-based hospital, encouraged Dan Roach, a Personal Trainer with over 25 years of experience, specialising in one-to-one fitness coaching, group exercise, nutritional advice and further education teaching, to sign up to the covenant.
Dan, who founded Coach Roach Personal Training signed the Covenant along with Lieutenant Colonel Carl Meyer, Clinical Lead of the Veterans’ Orthopaedic Service and Consultant Surgeon at Shropshire’s specialist orthopaedic hospital.
Dan said: “Alongside my work within orthopaedic rehabilitation, I’ve always been passionate about supporting the Armed Forces community.
“I’m proud to contribute to the physical development of serving personnel and to help veterans improve their health, fitness and overall wellbeing.
“More recently, I even put Lt Colonel Meyer through his paces with a demanding fitness assessment, which was a great opportunity to demonstrate how I can work with individuals across all levels of fitness.”
Rebecca leads on the Armed Forces Covenant, helping to ensure the Trust remains compliant while strengthening links across communities to better support veterans.
She said: “We are delighted to support Coach Roach in signing the Armed Forces Covenant. Dan is an experienced exercise specialist with more than 25 years’ expertise in his field, including extensive experience supporting patients before and after hip and knee replacement surgery.
“He helps patients improve their fitness ahead of surgery and provides tailored rehabilitation afterwards, adapting programmes to each person’s needs, abilities and goals to ensure they receive personalised support throughout their recovery.
“As Enhanced Recovery Lead at RJAH, I have seen first-hand the positive impact of his work, particularly his clinical knowledge, compassionate and patient-centred approach, and the excellent outcomes achieved by the patients he supports.”
The signing was also attended by Phil Sinclair from Defence Relationship Management, which engages with employers and organisations to encourage them to become signatories to the Covenant.
He said: “I am delighted that Coach Roach has signed his pledges and look forward to seeing how he is supported by RJAH in the future.
“RJAH signed the Covenant back in 2017 and have held the Gold Award for almost six years now. That makes them advocates for the Armed Forces Covenant on behalf of the Ministry of Defence, spreading the word to other organisations.”
