A commitment to excellence, leadership and integrity has earned the Trust Secretary at Shropshire’s specialist orthopaedic hospital May’s RJAH Stars Award.

Dylan Murphy received the award in recognition of the significant impact he’s made in strengthening governance and assurance across The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital.

As Trust Secretary, Dylan’s role involves working independently across the Board of Directors, executive team and wider staff as a trusted and impartial advisor.

He was nominated by Mary Bardsley, Assistant Trust Secretary, who praised both his leadership and the positive impact he has on colleagues across the Trust.

She said: “Dylan plays a critical role in keeping the Trust aligned with robust corporate governance standards. His methodical thinking, sensible judgement and well considered approach have significantly improved and continue to strengthen governance and assurance arrangements.

“This impact is evidenced by the most recent Assurance Framework review, which received “high” assurance from internal audit, with a further year of no recommendations. This outcome reflects Dylan’s dedication to excellence and the quality of his leadership and approach.

“I frequently hear colleagues say, “I love Dylan,” “Dylan is fabulous,” and “Dylan’s done another great job.” However, I feel that because Dylan is quietly effective and consistently delivers, he may not always receive the recognition he fully deserves.”

The RJAH Stars Award is a monthly recognition initiative at the Oswestry-based hospital, celebrating individuals and teams who go above and beyond in their commitment to excellence, teamwork and patient care.

Dylan said: “It was a surprise, but a welcome one. It’s very easy to do my job with the colleagues that I’ve got – they’re all very supportive. Form the Board, to the team that I work with and all my immediate colleagues, it makes it easy and a pleasure to work here.”

He was presented with his award by Stacey Keegan, Chief Executive, and received a certificate, voucher and chocolates – thanks to the League of Friends.

Stacey said: “Dylan’s contribution to the Trust is vital. His calm and thoughtful approach, combined with his commitment to excellence, make him an incredibly valued member of the team.

“He leads with professionalism, integrity and kindness, and this award is a well-deserved recognition of the positive impact he has across RJAH.”
