RJAH Private Healthcare Unit sets standard with ISO success

The Private Healthcare Service at The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital has successfully renewed its ISO 9001 certification – recognising its commitment to quality and patient experience.

Ludlow Unit, which provides private inpatients care to at Shropshire’s specialist orthopaedic hospital, underwent a day-and-a-half recertification assessment, which takes place every three years.

ISO 9001 provides a framework for organisations to maintain consistent standards, establish effective processes and improve services. In healthcare settings, this can include reviewing objectives, finances, booking systems, staff training and cleanliness records to ensure high-quality patient care.

Maintaining certification also requires an annual review which assesses the service’s performance over the preceding 12 months.

Kate Chaffey, Business Manager for Private Patients, said: “Renewing our ISO 9001 certification is a fantastic achievement for the team and recognises the importance we place on maintaining high standards across the service.

“The process gives us an opportunity to review how we work, ensuring we have effective systems in place, our staff are supported in delivering their roles and we continue to look for ways to improve the service we provide.

Ludlow Unit offers private orthopaedic care at the Oswestry-based hospital, with 16 en-suite inpatient rooms and dedicated outpatient facilities. All income generated through the service is reinvested back into the wider Trust.
