RJAH Stars Recruitment

The Recruitment Team at The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital are the perfect candidates for October’s RJAH Stars Award, recognising their dedication and behind the scenes support.

The team – made up of Sue Pryce, Ben Carter, Naomi Jones and Sky Badger – received the award in recognition of the work they do to bring new staff into Shropshire’s specialist orthopaedic hospital.

They were nominated by Lauren Hutchinson, Midland Centre for Spinal Injuries (MCSI) Ward Manager.

She said: “It’s often easy to overlook the hard work that goes into recruiting candidates after the interview stage, and our Recruitment Team work tirelessly to complete the necessary checks and processes to ensure everything is in place to keep our patients, staff and the Trust safe.

“They work particularly closely with MCSI, one of the largest teams in the hospital, and they are always willing to help and accommodate our requests as much as they can. No ask ever seems too big, and they go above and beyond to support us.

“Their hard work and patience make a real difference to the ward, and we appreciate everything they do – much of which happens quietly in the background. I feel they deserve the recognition for their dedication and the important role they play.”

The RJAH Stars Award is a monthly recognition initiative at the Oswestry-based hospital, celebrating individuals or teams who go above and beyond to demonstrate their commitment to patient care, teamwork and excellence.

Sue said: “It’s really lovely to have that recognition. We’re very much a behind-the-scenes team, and although people might not always see it, the work we do can be complex and involves many individual checks that need to be completed both accurately and as quickly as possible.

“It’s particularly special to be recognised by a ward manager we work closely with, and to know that the work we do is appreciated and making a difference.”

The team were presented with her award by Stacey Keegan, Chief Executive, and received a certificate, voucher and chocolates – thanks to the League of Friends.

Stacey said: “The Recruitment Team does so much important work quietly behind the scenes, and it can be easy to overlook just how vital their contribution is. Without the work they do, we simply wouldn’t have the people in place to deliver our care and services.

“They consistently go above and beyond to support colleagues across the Trust, so this recognition is incredibly well deserved. A huge thank you and well done to the whole team.”
