Outreach nurse recognised for exceptional care earns RJAH Stars Award

An Outreach Nurse at The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital (RJAH) has received August's RJAH Stars Award in recognition of her outstanding professionalism, calm leadership and unwavering commitment to patient care during high-pressure clinical situations.

Sarah Timney was nominated by her colleagues for consistently demonstrating confidence, compassion and clinical expertise while supporting patients, relatives and staff through complex and challenging circumstances.

Lowri Mansell, HDU Ward Manager, said: "Sarah is an exceptional nurse who brings reassurance, expertise and compassion to every situation she faces.

"Following a patient deterioration after cervical spinal surgery, she responded with remarkable composure, ensuring clear communication between teams and helping to coordinate the care needed at a critical moment.

"Her ability to think clearly under pressure, provide support to both colleagues and relatives, and work seamlessly across specialties had a hugely positive impact on the outcome and on those around her.

"Sarah is respected by everyone she works with and is a tremendous asset to the Outreach Team. This award is thoroughly deserved, and I am delighted to see her recognised."

The RJAH Stars Award is a monthly recognition initiative at the Oswestry-based hospital, celebrating individuals or teams who go above and beyond to demonstrate their commitment to patient care, teamwork and excellence.

Sarah said: “I was completely shocked and incredibly honoured to receive this award. It was such a lovely surprise, and it means so much to know that the work I do has been recognised in this way.

“I feel very lucky to be part of such a kind and supportive team, and I know my family will be incredibly proud too. I’m truly grateful to everyone who has supported me throughout my nursing career.”

She was presented with her award by Stacey Keegan, Chief Executive, and received a certificate, voucher and chocolates – thanks to the League of Friends.
