Thirteen remarkable runners who took part in the 2026 TCS London Marathon in aid of The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital (RJAH) have been thanked for their efforts.
The runners collectively raised a phenomenal £29,000 for the RJAH Charity and to thank them, a celebration event was held in the main entrance at the Oswestry-based hospital.
Each runner received a certificate of appreciation, which was presented to them by RJAH Chief Executive Stacey Keegan.
Victoria Sugden, Charity Director, said: “We are immensely grateful to our team of runners who took part in the London Marathon to raise much needed funds for RJAH Charity.
“The London Marathon is the biggest fundraiser on the calendar, and all runners play a huge part in enabling us to provide the best possible support to patients and staff at RJAH.
“The funds raised by the team will go into our wider charitable funds pot, which is used to fund projects across the hospital to support patient care and improve staff services.”
Chief Executive Stacey Keegan, who has previously taken part in the London Marathon as part of Team RJAH, said: “Having experienced the marathon myself, I know what a huge challenge it is – my congratulations and thanks go to each and every runner for their incredible effort and support.”
Trust Chair Harry Turner, “A huge thank you must go to every single Team RJAH member – their dedication and commitment to running the marathon and raising funds for RJAH Charity has been overwhelming and we can’t thank them enough.
“On behalf of the Trust I want to say well done to all. The money raised will benefit our patients and staff and for that, we are grateful.”
The runners who took part in the marathon were; Thomas Brunt, Matt Barber, Barry Mahon, Craig Evanson, Larissa Rix, Andy Bradley, John Pepper, Leah Beech, Dave Barnett, Andrew Rowson, Steve Bishton, Joanne Parsons and Jake Hawley.
Team RJAH is at full capacity for the 2027 race, which is due to take place on Sunday 25th April.
However, the charity runs an initiative called 20Thrive - a calendar of sporting events offering participants the chance to get active, set personal goals and raise vital funds to support patients and staff at RJAH.
Whether it's running, cycling, swimming, or another challenge, 20Thrive provides an opportunity for people of all abilities to take part, have fun and make a real difference.
