Supporting colleagues through the rollout of a new system has earned the Clinical Audit Quality Lead at Shropshire's specialist orthopaedic hospital June’s RJAH Stars Award.

Dan Booth received the award in recognition of the vital role he has played in guiding teams during the implementation of Radar Healthcare – a system used to support patient safety, patient experience, risk management and clinical and quality audits.

The RJAH Stars Award is a monthly recognition initiative at The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital, celebrating individuals and teams who go above and beyond in their commitment to excellence, teamwork and patient care.

Dan was nominated by Louise Arnold, Deputy Radiology Services Manager and Quality Lead. She said: “Dan is always incredibly helpful and supportive whenever I have a query, but his support during the rollout of Radar has been particularly outstanding.

“No matter how big or small the question, Dan has always been patient and understanding, taking the time to explain things clearly and provide reassurance when needed.

“His knowledge, dedication and willingness to support others have made a real difference, and he has played a huge part in making the transition to Radar a success for me and many others. Thank you Dan!”

The award came as a surprise to Dan, who joined the Clinical Governance Team at the Oswestry-based hospital in 2022.

He said: “I really didn’t expect to receive this recognition, and I feel this award reflects the collective hard work of the Clinical Governance team, much of which often goes unseen but is fundamental to the work around the Trust.

“In particular, the implementation of Radar Healthcare has been a significant project, and it would not have been possible without the commitment, expertise and drive of several of my colleagues, including Ash, Alison and Katie, whose contributions across the various phases of implementation have been instrumental to its ongoing success. Their efforts, alongside the continued support of the wider Clinical Governance team, deserve real recognition and thanks.

“I would also like to thank the teams across the Trust who have proactively engaged with clinical audit. Their willingness to get involved and support this work has made a huge difference and has greatly helped in driving audit forward to where it is today.”

Dan was presented with his award by Stacey Keegan, Chief Executive, and received a certificate, voucher and chocolates thanks to the support of the League of Friends.

Stacey said: “The RJAH Stars Award recognises colleagues who consistently go above and beyond, and Dan is a fantastic example of that.

“Whether through his work on Radar Healthcare, clinical audit or wider governance initiatives, Dan has made a significant contribution to helping teams improve, learn and deliver the best possible care for patients.

“We are incredibly fortunate to have someone like Dan at RJAH and he’s a worthy winner of the RJAH Stars Award.”
