Window Installations at the Headley Court Veterans' Orthopaedic Centre

Patients and visitors to the Headley Court Veterans' Orthopaedic Centre may have noticed the window installations around the building.

 

During the design phase of the project, the Architectural Design Team for the Headley Court Veterans' Orthopaedic Centre were looking for ideas of suitable artwork that could be featured on the windows around the building.

 

Nia Pritchard, who works as part of the Trust's Medical Illustration Team, found a series of historic photographs that have a strong military connection to RJAH and the local area. After obtaining permission, high resolution versions of the images were digitally restored for print.

In the sunshine, Lance Corporal Whitefield of the Auxiliary Territorial Service (ATS) pushes an injured RAF armourer on a trolley around the grounds of The Robert Jones and Dame Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital in Oswestry. According to the original caption: ATS girls from a neighbouring camp give up their spare time to wheel patients around the grounds".
