Childrens' Therapy Team

The ward has dedicated  Physiotherapists and  a Therapy Support Worker. The ward based therapy team is supported by Clinical Specialist Physiotherapists who work alongside the Neuromuscular and Paediatric Orthopaedic Consultants in clinic.

 

The team provide inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation for children with a wide range of neurological and orthopaedic conditions.  Some children will require a period of inpatient rehabilitation after orthopaedic surgery.

 

Inpatient rehabilitation is individually tailored to the needs of each child but may include exercise therapy, walking and balance re-education.  The weekly programme also includes group hydrotherapy and exercise sessions.

 

The  facilities include a hydrotherapy pool, exercise bikes and  therapy room with a wide range of rehabilitation equipment.

 

The team works closely with Community Physiotherapists, ORLAU, Orthotics,  and Occupational Therapists.
