The Quality Outcomes Manager at Shropshire’s specialist orthopaedic hospital has been named May’s winner of the RJAH Stars Award – after her dedication to the development and launch of a brand-new patient application, named myrecovery.

Sammy Davies, who works in the Quality Outcomes Department at The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital, was part of the team who worked on the roll-out of myrecovery.

The app includes information to inform and empower patients through their treatment journey and enables them to remotely answer questions and enter symptoms so their care team can monitor their condition.

Her efforts were so appreciated by her colleague, Beth Mackenzie, Quality Outcomes Supervisor, she nominated her for the Oswestry-based hospital’s monthly RJAH Stars Award.

Beth said: “I want to nominate Sammy for her hard work towards the myrecovery app which has recently been rolled out in staggered phases.

“The plans for the app going forward are amazing and will make a huge difference to the Trust.

The monthly award is presented to unsung heroes from across the hospital who are nominated by their colleagues for going the extra mile.

Sammy said: “I was surprised, but humbled, to be nominated. My team have worked incredibly hard on the myrecovery app, and I can’t thank them enough.”

“The launch of the app to the wider Trust has been a success, and it enables staff to collect data which can be utilized to prioritise patient care further.”

Sammy was presented with their award, consisting of a keepsake certificate, a box of chocolates and a voucher donated by the League of Friends, by Chief Executive Stacey Keegan.

Stacey said: “Sammy is a worthy winner of the hospitals RJAH Stars Award. She, along with her team, have shown true dedication to myrecovery, ensuring our clinicians know how to get the most out of this innovative app.

“We are extremely thankful for your dedication to making improvements for the Trust, and our patients. The new platform enables patients to access information relevant to their care at their fingertips, which is a fantastic addition to the care we offer our patients.”
