Staff who work on the Children’s Unit at Shropshire’s specialist orthopaedic hospital have set up a special online gift wish list this Christmas – in a bid to further improve patient experience.

The team on Alice Ward at The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital, have worked together with patients and their families, to create an Amazon wish list, full of items that will make their hospital stay more comfortable and fun.

Amazon wish lists are virtual shopping lists, which includes toys, games, books, paints, toiletries, electricals and more. The most expensive item is an Apple iPad at £308, while the most affordable is a sticker set at 89p.

Suzanne Marsden, Alice Ward and Children’s Outpatients Manager, said: “We worked closely with our patients to create this Amazon wish list – which is full of items to bring them comfort and fun during their long stays on the ward, and away from home.

“The wish list has been created to support our ward in being a safe, cosy, home-away-from-home environment for our paediatric patients and their families to enjoy.”

Alice Ward is the dedicated children’s ward at the Oswestry-based hospital which provides specialist advice, diagnosis and treatment for patients from 0-18 years old who have bone, joint and muscular disorders.

Victoria Sugden, Charity Director, said: “We are extremely grateful for all the donations we’ve received to date from our Amazon wish list.

“These items make a huge difference to our patients and the experience they have when in hospital for extended periods of time.”

When purchasing through the wish list, items will be directly delivered to Alice Ward.
