Recruitment evening gives nurses opportunity to join award-winning team

A special recruitment evening is taking place later this month – giving nurses the chances to join an award-winning spinal injuries team at The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital.

Several vacancies have come up within the Midland Centre for Spinal Injuries (MCSI), which is based within the Oswestry-based hospital and is one of just 11 specialist units of its kind in the UK.

The recruitment evening will take place on Wednesday 21 June and will run between 5pm and 7pm. There will be an opportunity to get a tour of the unit and to be interviewed for a post on the night – though that will require candidates to have submitted an application in advance.

Rebecca Warren, Ward Manager on MCSI, said: “This really is an exciting opportunity to come and work with a fantastic team who are all so committed to delivering the best possible experience for our patients.

“The team has won several awards in recent years and we’re excited to be able to offer these opportunities due to the investment in our service to increase staffing levels.

“Successful candidates will get the chance to work as part of a close knit team made up not just of nurses, but of medical, therapeutic and psychology professionals.

“They will also be working with some truly remarkable patients, whose resilience, determination and positivity in the face of adversity never fails to amaze and inspire me.”

The evening will include a tour of the unit by Rebecca, as well as a presentation on spinal cord injury from Mr Joy Chowdhury, the Lead Consultant on MCSI.

Members of staff, including recent appointments to the team, will be on hand to share their experiences of working on MCSI.

Bev Tabernacle, Director of Nursing, said: “I would encourage experienced and newly qualified nurses to come along to this recruitment evening, as we have a variety of roles that we are looking to fill.

“If you join us, you will be given support to develop your career with formal education and the chance to follow a career pathway into specialist practice nursing.”
