Autumn Ball smashes fundraising target for RJAH

An Autumn Ball to raise money for The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital has surpassed its target by over £1,000.

Volunteers and patients gathered in Ludlow for a night of festivities in aid of the Oswestry-based hospital’s Pain Management Team.

Employees from Barclays Bank also helped to raise money on the night and contributed £2,000, resulting in a total of £5,200.

The night, hosted at Ludlow Racecourse, included a promise auction and live music from Tongue N Groove.

Both organisers, Caroline and Marie Dahn from Ludlow, came into the hospital this week to donate the cheque. She said: “I was diagnosed with a Desmoid Tumour on my hip two years ago and was referred to RJAH for treatment.

“I have benefitted from an extensive range of services that the hospital provides for me and I’m hugely grateful for the specialist and continued care I receive.

“The night was fantastic and everyone enjoyed themselves. I’m so glad I can give this cheque to Dr Lourdes Gaspar and his Pain Management team and give something back after all the support I’ve had!”

Caroline receives treatment from the pain management team led by Consultant, Dr Gaspar.

Dr Gaspar said: “I’m very grateful that Caroline and Marie organised such an event to raise money for us. Many of our patients are living with a great deal of physical and emotional distress which may be helped by regular treatment.

“The money will be a used for the benefit of the patients we serve. I can’t thank Caroline and Marie enough!”

Chief Executive Mark Brandreth met the fundraisers, he said: “We are so grateful to our fundraisers. The thousands of pounds that Caroline and Marie have raised is fantastic!

“The Pain Team do a brilliant job helping patients who can sometimes be hurting a great deal. The money will be well used by the team in making patients comfortable and providing top notch pain management.”
