Work Experience

This page provides details about work experience opportunities at the Trust.
 
The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust offer work experience placements in various settings within the Trust.  All placement offers are offered subject to service demands and pressures and therefore alternative placements may need to be offered to accommodate placement requests.  
N.B. Alice Ward will only offer work experience placements to students on a recognised Health and Social care course and to students aged over 18 years old only.
Generic Work Experience placements
Work experience placements are available at the Trust for anyone aged 14 years and over.
 
The Trust is able to offer a one week placement in one of the following areas.  Please note that students from schools in the locality will take precedence for placements.  All placements will be allocated on a first come first serve basis.
  • Catering Department
  • Finance Department
  • Health Care Records (Admin)
  • Health Care – ward based
  • Housekeeping
  • Medical Taster
  • Orthotics Workshop
  • Porters

The dates we are able to offer a work experience placement in any of the areas listed above in 2014 are as follows: 

  • 17th-21st February
  • 23rd-27th June
  • 30th June-4th July
  • 14th-18th July
  • 18th-22nd August (Medical Taster only, limited places)
  • 13th-17th October

PLEASE NOTE:  The Trust will only offer work experience placements for the dates specified above.  No other placement dates will be available.
Specific work experience in the Physiotherapy / Occupational Therapy Departments
Students who require a work placement to assist with their application to relevant courses in Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy in higher education establishments should complete the application form and return the completed form directly to the Physiotherapy / Occupational Therapy Department.  Placements will only be offered to persons aged 16 years and will only be for students on the relevent courses mentioned above.  All students will be formally notified if requests for a placement can be accommodated or not.

BTEC Students
We can only accommodate BTEC students on the specified work experience weeks and that no other placement can be accommodated. 

The Trust reserves the right to cancel placements at short notice due to service pressures.  No placements will be offered to anyone under the age of 14 years old or who is currently a patient at the Trust.  We welcome students from diverse backgrounds and with disabilities
