Housekeeper Mandy cleans up with Health Hero Award

Popular housekeeper Mandy Gordon has been named as the latest Health Hero Award winner at The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital.

Mandy is a familiar face at RJAH, having worked at the Oswestry-based hospital for more than 45 years.

She was nominated by the Medicine and Rheumatology Admin Department, who – in a joint submission – stated: “Mandy is very friendly and always has a smile on her face. She constantly goes above and beyond what is expected of her.

“She is dependable and efficient in her work. She makes a difficult task look easy with great attention to detail.

“During our recent office move-around she was incredibly helpful and made a stressful time much easier. She is very approachable and always willing to help.”

Mandy said: “I feel honoured and very proud to have been nominated by this wonderful team, it really means a lot to me.

“It’s come as a real surprise but a very nice one. It’s lovely to feel appreciated.

“I’d like to say a big thank you to the team for nominating me.”

Chief Executive Mark Brandreth announced the latest winner at the Board of Directors monthly meeting today.

He said: “Mandy is a lovely lady who is popular with staff and patients alike. She always goes that extra mile to help out absolutely anybody, and I have never seen her without a huge smile upon her face.

“She is part of a team of domestics who do a simply fantastic job – and you don’t have to just take my word for that, as our Wards were rated amongst the very cleanest in the NHS in the most recent Adult Inpatient Survey.

“I was absolutely delighted to be able to present this award to Mandy.”
