The Trust has consistently low infection rates and the posters which are now displayed around the hospital are aimed at ensuring ongoing improvements, through engaging staff and patients in preventing infection.</p>]]></description>

The new Enhanced Recovery programme aims to get patients better sooner after surgery and means they will be back on their feet on the day of their operation.</p>]]></description>

     <description><![CDATA[<p>In mid July, the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic and District Hospital NHS Trust welcomed a group of fifteen year old pupils from local schools including the Marches, Thomas Adams and the Yale, Wrexham and Llanfyllin High School for a week of work experience. The scheme was such a success that next year, the hospital will be extending the number from nine to 15 students.</p>]]></description>

These were from the mammoth efforts involving eight staff in the Three Peaks Challenge and a sponsored bike ride by a former patient who was injured during a cycling accident.</p>]]></description>

Eventually she got to 106. Now, 12 months on, she has organised a charity bike ride, Rachel&rsquo;s Headstrong Ride, for 106 participants around Birmingham.</p>]]></description>

     <description><![CDATA[<p>The 2010/11 Apprenticeship scheme at The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (RJAH) was a huge success. Of the 25 young people that took part in the scheme, 17 are still working at the hospital; two of whom are furthering their training for another year. Additionally, of the eight RJAH apprentices that left the hospital, seven are currently in local employment thanks in part to the skills they learnt whilst working at the specialist orthopaedic hospital.</p>]]></description>

     <description><![CDATA[<p>The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Oswestry, Shropshire had one of the highest scores for overall care received by patients in the 2011 National Inpatient Survey published today by the Care Quality Commission. Patients gave an extremely high rating of 9.1 out of 10 for overall care received, as well as top scores about various aspects on their experience throughout the hospital.</p>]]></description>

SDR is an operation to reduce spasticity which is suitable for a group of children with cerebral palsy affecting the lower limbs who have enough strength and control to be able to walk better after the spasticity is removed. Within this carefully selected group, there have been some very positive results.</p>]]></description>

The adverse wintry weather did not delay the delivery of the six tonne MRI scanner which will now be commissioned to begin scanning patients in January 2011.</p>]]></description>

Overall the staff opinion survey results for The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust indicate that staff experience at work is positive and even better than the previous year. The results of the anonymous Care Quality Commission's Staff Opinion Survey 2010, published in mid March, show significant improvements compared to last year, with 19 key findings demonstrating a significant improvement from 2009.</p>]]></description>

Mr Cockbill has been a patient of the Midlands Centre for Spinal Injuries, Oswestry since his swimming accident, at the age of 16. In 2007, he took up shooting as part of his rehabilitation.</p>]]></description>

Whilst 30 GPs were from the Shropshire area, the remainder included some who had travelled up to 80 miles from Herefordshire, Worcestershire and north and mid Wales.</p>]]></description>

Mr Tom Pirson, 29, came from the Isle of Man to The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust for keyhole surgery of the hip joint twice in the last 12 months. This type of surgery is only performed in specialist centres.</p>]]></description>

     <description><![CDATA[<p>The Oswestry based Midlands Centre for Spinal Injuries has been celebrating a decade since the official opening its purpose built new complex, with praise for all those who raised money to replace the previous building. The specialist spinal injuries centre, which serves Shropshire and the West Midlands, north and mid Wales and Cheshire, was rebuilt following a &pound;3.5 million public appeal launched in 1997. It had its official opening 10 years ago on 29th October, which is the same date in 2011 when Sir Jimmy Savile, who laid the foundation stone 12 years ago, sadly died.</p>]]></description>
